Mr Bounlap Keokagna
Ex-Director and Deputy director of Vat Phou World Heritage Site Office
 

We regret to inform you of the death of Mr Bounlap Keokagna, which occurred suddenly on the night of 10 to 11 October 2018.

It is a large part of the memory of the site of Vat Phou which disappears so abruptly.

 

He was the director of Vat Phou office from 1988 to 1998, after that he was the chief of the cultural division of the Information, Culture and Tourism Departement of Champasak Province from 1998 to 2007, He was also the chief of the secretary of Heritage division of the province.

From 2007 to 2016, he was the deputy director of Vat Phou world heritage Office. He was the referent for French Agency of Development at Vat Phou World Heritage Site (AFD) and Consultant for Indian cooperation about monument restoration. He was, after his retirement in 2016, consultant for FSP and AFD French Projects at Vat Phu.

In 2018, Mr Bounlap Keokagna received from Indian ministry of Home Affairs, one of the highest civilian awards of the country, the “Padma Shri”, for distinguished service.
